International Festival Runs Through Nov. 1

Walters State Community College will host events at all campuses celebrating its October International Festival. Events are open to the public and are free. Each event is a yellow ticket event. 

Events at the Morristown Campus 
Wednesday, Oct.26, 
• 12-1:30 p.m. – Creation Station, Lobby of Judge William H. Inman 
   Humanities Complex. Flex your creative muscles with a variety of activities. 
• 1-3 p.m. – Walters State Debate Team will show its skills with a very timely topic: rediscovering the world. 
Monday, Oct. 31:
• Noon-2 p.m. – Conquer Your Fear of the Unknown, Lyceum Café, Dr. Wade B. McCamey Student Services Building. Tell a story, read a poem or sing a song hosted by Robin LaPointe.
• 6-8:30 p.m. – Dinner and a Movie with “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.” This 2022 Iranian horror film tracks a lonely vampire. Enjoy free pizza.
Wednesday, Nov. 2:
• 6:30 p.m. –  Special debut of “SHARED SACRIFICES: The Unsung Liberators of France.” This World War II documentary began with research and filming conducted by the late Dr. Marc McClure, professor of history at Walters State. The film was completed by his widow, Jessica McClure, Dr. Paul Lubotina, associate professor of history; and Patricia Lofthouse, film editor. The showing is in the Lyceum of the Dr. Wade B. McCamey Student Services Building.
Thursday, Nov. 3:
• 11:10 a.m. and 1 p.m.:  “SHARED SACRIFICES: The Unsung Liberators of France in WWII” with guest speaker Patricia Lofthouse, Lyceum of the Dr. Wade B. McCamey Student Services Building.

NISWONGER CAMPUS
Monday, Oct. 31 and Thursday, Nov. 3
• 9:30-11 a.m., 11:10 a.m.-noon, 6-9 p.m. – Professional storytellers will be talking about ghosts. 
Wednesday, Nov.2
9:45-11 a.m. – Improv Workshop

SEVIER COUNTY CAMPUS
Wednesday, Nov. 2, Connor-Short Center (CAPE)
• 12:15 p.m. – The Sevier County Campus Choir will perform songs from other lands.
• 1 p.m. – Members of RHiTA will share “Mi Culture” presentation.
• 2:20 p.m. – Marci Nimick, associate professor of speech communication, will tell stories of Appalachia. 

CLAIBORNE COUNTY CAMPUS
Tuesday, Oct. 25
• 1:30 p.m. – Students will be served small meatball subs in celebration of Italy.
Monday, Oct. 31
• 1:55 p.m. – The Italian-American horror classic, “The Last Man on Earth” will be shown in the auditorium.
Thursday, Nov. 1 – Celebrate the Day of the Dead feast and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
