October Noncredit Classes Include OSHA Safety, ServSafe, Excel
October noncredit classes offered through the Walters State Division of Workforce Training the OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training for General Industry, Microsoft Excel Level 1, Parenting and Divorce Online and ServSafe Sanitation and Safety. Online Courses
• Parenting and Divorce, the court-ordered class for divorcing parents, meets from
5:30-9:30 p.m. on Oct. 10 or Oct. 25. The cost is $60. The class is offered via the
Zoom videoconferencing software. Skills learned in this class will make the transition
healthier and less traumatic, especially for children. Participants receive a certificate
of completion.
• Microsoft Excel Level 1 will be offered from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 26. The cost
is $150. Learn the basics of the standard spreadsheet program. Learn how to create
and print documents, explore formatting options, enter formulas, and functions and
work with page layout features. The class also discusses changes to Excel 2016 when
compared to previous editions.
Sevier County Courses
• ServSafe Sanitation and Safety is offered Oct. 9 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at Northview
Academy in Kodak. The cost is $129. The class is based on the National Restaurant
Association Educational Program and its Hazard Analysis Critical Control point system.
The class covers federal and state regulations related to food service. The class
is designed to develop an understanding of the principles of sanitation and safety
and how to apply to those principles to a food service establishment. Students also
learn how to share food safety knowledge with others.
Greene County Courses
• OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training for General Industry will be held at the Niswonger
Campus from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Oct. 30-Nov. 2. The cost is $449. This class is offered
in conjunction with Tennessee OSHA. Students will learn about workplace hazards and
their rights as workers. The knowledge gained from this class can reduce downtime
and prevent injuries. This class is recommended for front-line supervisors, safety
committee members and others involved with safety.
