Motorcycle Rider Education Courses Offered
Walters State Community College will offer the Motorcycle Rider Education
Class. The course is the state-certified licensing course for motorcycle riders. A
certificate of completion exempts those who complete course from the written and riding
test when applying for a motorcycle license.
Classes will be offered on the Morristown Public Safety Campus on the
following dates:
•Oct. 19-20
•Nov. 9-10
•Nov. 23-24
•Dec. 7-8.
This class includes five hours of classroom learning and ten hours of practical
riding instruction in a controlled, off-street environment. An online course will
be taken before the actual class begins. Course materials are provided, including
the Tennessee Motorcycle Handbook and a student workbook. Training motorcycles will
be used. Students must bring eye protection, a DOT-approved helmet; gloves that completely
cover the fingers and palms; long pants; low-heeled, over-the-ankle leather footwear;
and rain gear.
Instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Class size
is limited to 12. Students must pass both a written and a driving evaluation at the
completion of the course. The cost is $300.
