OTA Research Symposium is Dec. 3

The Walters State Occupational Therapy Assistant Program will host the Occupational Therapy Research Expo on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at the college’s Niswonger Campus in Greeneville. The walk-through poster gallery format will be open from 4-6:30 p.m. and is a drop-in event.

Occupational therapy practitioners will receive a two-hour continuing education units certificate for attendance. Students and faculty members will be available to discuss research or talk about the field in general.

“I am proud to show the research completed this semester by our students,” said Courtney Boren, program director and occupational therapist. “This is also an excellent time for interested individuals in pursuing a career in occupational therapy to learn more about becoming an OTA.”

The presentations feature evidence-based work completed by first- and second-year students.

“This process teaches students how to critically look at evidence-based research. Those skills will guide future decisions. This skill will help our graduates become lifelong learners in the occupational therapy field,” Boren said.
