Pelham Receives Horizon Award
A Walters State faculty member has received a state-wide award from the
Tennessee Communications Association.
Bambi Pelham, assistant professor of communications, received the Horizon
Award at the association’s annual conference. The award is given each year to an association
member who demonstrates leadership and potential to positively impact the organization
in coming years. Pelham, of New Market, received the T.C.A. Educator of the Year award
last year.
“Bambi’s dedication to the T.C.A. is consistent with her strong commitment
to seeing her students succeed in the classroom and beyond,” said Dr. Rob Pratt, associate
professor of communication and dean of the college’s Division of Humanities. “Bambi
led and participated in excellent presentations at this year’s conference, and she
works hard to make our statewide organization stronger.”
Pelham is the third Walters State faculty member to be honored with this
award. Matthew Lawson, associate professor of communication and mass communication,
received the Horizon Award in 2013 and Pratt received it in 2016.
Walters State is a leader in the state-wide association made up of Communication
faculty from colleges and universities across the state of Tennessee. Each year, Walters
State is among the most active contributors to the conference, and this year was no
exception as seven faculty and one student participated in presentations.
