March Noncredit Classes Include SHRM, Robotics

The Walters State Division of Workforce Training plans to offer new and returning popular courses in its noncredit schedule in March. For more information or to register for these classes, contact Kellie Hendrix at 423-798-7988 or Kellie.HendrixFREEWS.

ONLINE CLASSES
• Parenting and Divorce is the state-mandated class for divorcing parents. These classes offered through the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Learn communications and parenting skills that can make the divorce process less traumatic for everyone, particularly children. The cost is $60, and the class meets from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on March 4 or March 18.
• Auctioneering 50-Hour (Apprenticeship) will be offered online March 11-April 10, 6-10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students learn the basics of auctioneering in an easy-to-understand format that meets the Tennessee educational licensing requirements. The course provides the auctioneering fundamentals with ethics and professionalism strongly emphasized. Upon completion of this course and passing of the apprenticeship exam, students then must submit an application for an apprentice license along with payment and certificate of completion to the Tennessee Auctioneer Commission for issuance of an apprentice license. The cost is $634.

SEVIER COUNTY CAMPUS
• SHRM CP/SCP Certification Preparation will be held 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 3-6. This class prepares individuals for the Society of Human Resources certification exam. This program covers the four knowledge domains: people, organization, workplace and strategy. Eight behavioral competencies are covered: leadership and navigation, ethical practice, business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness, and communication. The cost is $1,595.

NEWPORT CENTER
• Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be held from 8 a.m.-noon on March 6 and March 13.  Students will gain hands-on experience utilizing Ersi software. Sessions will include software basics and managing and visualizing spatial data. For information on the cost for individuals or group, please contact Hendrix. 

NISWONGER CAMPUS
• Industrial Electricity & PLC Troubleshooting and Programming will be offered 5-8 p.m. on Thursdays, March 6-June 5. This course provides an over of AC and DC electrical concepts with an emphasis on troubleshooting using schematics and measuring devices. The class includes an introduction to programmable logic controllers, including uploading and downloading programs. Students will learn how to monitor and use PLC programming software as a troubleshooting tool. This class also includes PLC control system maintenance. The cost is $1,995.
• Introduction to Robotics Operation and Programming will be offered from 8-10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 18-June 3. Featuring hands-on training, the course provides a basic understanding of robot operations and programming, material handling and components. The class also includes preventative maintenance and troubleshooting sections. Teachings align to the FANUC Certified Robot Operator National Certification offered through NOCTI. This level focuses on the core robot operator skills needed by employers as entry-level or incumbent workers. The cost is $695.

MULTIPLE CAMPUSES
• Microsoft Excel Level 3 will be held March 11 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Niswonger and Morristown campuses and the Newport Center. This class covers the more complicated areas of Excel, including PivotTables, Pivot Charts, troubleshooting formulas, advanced formatting and data analysis. The cost is $150.
