November Noncredit Classes Include HR, OSHA Training
Noncredit classes offered by Walters State Community College in November include the OSHA 30-Hour Training course; Parenting and Divorce Online; SHRM CP/SCP Certification Preparation; Supervisor 101; and Microsoft Excel Level 2. Parenting and Divorce, Nov. 5 or 19, 5:30-9:30 p.m., $60.
This is the state-mandated course for divorcing parents. This class outlines the importance
of co-parenting children. This class will improve communication skills and make the
transition as easy as possible and less traumatic for all family members, especially
children. Those attending the course will receive a certificate of completion which
can be submitted to your attorney or judge. The course is offered through the ZOOM
videoconferencing software.
Microsoft Excel Level 2, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150, Offered Via Zoom at the Morristown
Campus, Niswonger Campus and Newport Center, $150.
This course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Level 1. Students will learn
how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently and begin working more advanced
formatting options. These include managing workbooks, functions, formulas, data ranges,
and analyzing data.
Sevier County Campus
SHRM CP/SCP Certification Preparation, Nov. 4-7, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., $1,595.
This course prepares you to take the certification exam developed by the Society for
Human Resource Management. The course focuses on identifying and testing the knowledge
and real-life experiences human resource around the world need today. This covers
the four knowledge domains of people, organization, workplace and strategy. Also
covered are the eight behavioral competencies of leadership and navigation; ethical
practice; business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation
global and cultural effectiveness, and communication.
Niswonger Campus, Greeneville
OSHA 30-Hour Safety Training for General Industry, Nov. 4-7, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., $449.
Offered in conjunction with TOSHA, this training provides practical knowledge to improve
workplace safety. This class covers workplace hazards and employee rights. This course
is recommended for front-line supervisors, safety committee members or safety professionals.
Supervisor 101, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., or Nov. 12 and Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-5
p.m., $399
This course is focused on the supervisors essential areas of responsibility. This
knowledge is great for those who have just moved from worker to supervisor and for
supervisors with years of experience. This workshop concentrations on five critical
skill areas and allows time for practice. This course focuses on promoting communication,
guide work, leading the workforce, coaching employee performance, and continuing to
develop as a supervisor.
